Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu says this season’s Serie A meetings “showed that we can beat Juventus” in the Coppa Italia final.

The Rossoneri take on the Serie A leaders at the Stadio Olimpico tomorrow night, as they seek to win major silverware for the first time since 2011.

“We want to win this trophy,” Calhanoglu told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It would be fundamental to improve, it’s something that would change the mentality and the whole season. It would change everything.

“The match in Turin, but also the one in Milan, showed that we can beat Juventus. We can do it.

“We had our chances, for example at Juventus Stadium I hit the crossbar. We know their strength well, they have great players but there’s a lot of quality in our group too.

“They are very strong up-front, so I say that [Leonardo] Bonucci and [Alessio] Romagnoli will play a decisive role.

“A danger man? Douglas Costa. I know him from my time in Germany; he’s quick, smart and can change games but if we play as a team we can stop him.

“We can beat them with mentality, that’s the most important factor. With the collective and with the heart.”

Calhanoglu was then asked for his ideal scenario for the game.

“A win with me scoring a free-kick! That would be a dream. People have been expecting the famous Calhanoglu free-kick, but so far I haven’t succeeded.

“If I could do it I could finally relax a little.”
