Brescia – whose President Massimo Cellino has tested positive for COVID-19 – and Torino are the only hold-outs remaining, with Sampdoria sitting on the fence, on whether the 2019-20 season should reach a natural conclusion.
Milan had been neutral on the situation, but President Scaroni confirmed their position in an interview with news agency ANSA.
“Resuming the season depends on the development of the pandemic, and therefore, with the authorities. Milan is a football club, whose primary vocation is playing football.
“Therefore, if there are health and safety reassurances, we are in favour of resuming the season.”
A summit will be held on Tuesday between the Serie A clubs, then a decision made on Wednesday between the various divisions, FIGC, CONI and Government.
