Milan are reportedly considering whether to sack Vincenzo Montella and replace him with Gennaro Gattuso.

According to La Repubblica, Montella is “close to the axe again” after Milan’s goalless draw with Torino on Sunday, which left them 11 points adrift of the Champions League places.

Consequently, the “No 1 candidate” to replace the Coach would be Gattuso, who returned to the Rossoneri over the summer, taking charge of the their Primavera team.

The former Italy midfielder is a legend at Milan after winning two Scudetti and as many Champions Leagues in a 14-year spell with the club.

He left in the summer of 2012 and went on to coach Sion, OFI Crete, Palermo and Pisa but failed to lead any of the quartet to success.
