The Argentine striker has been targeted by the Rossoneri as a possible option should they fail to net Carlos Tevez from Manchester City.

Catania have claimed that Milan are not the only team interested in signing Maxi Lopez during the January transfer window.

The Argentine striker has been targeted by the Rossoneri as a possible option should they fail to net Carlos Tevez from Manchester City.

However, the Sicilian club have today revealed that the South American could actually end up elsewhere.

“We know that the player has expressed an interest in Milan and we have told him our opinion,” director Pietro Lo Monaco told Sky Sport Italia.

“We know the position of Milan and they know our position on the matter.

“We’ll see what happens over the next few days, but I can confirm that there are other clubs who have asked us for him too.

“It must mean that the player is greatly admired.”

The former Barcelona player, 27, joined Catania in January 2010.
