Milan could shake up their Champions League squad to face Tottenham Hotspur, with Sergino Dest and Davide Calabria in, freezing out Fode Ballo-Toure.

The Rossoneri have a limited squad for the tournament due to factors including the lack of homegrown talent and relatively few Italians.

They therefore had to cut out several big names from the group stage of the competition, including injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mike Maignan and Alessandro Florenzi.

Those three should all return from the Round of 16 in February, which will be against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.

Other changes reported by Radio Rossonera include the exclusion of Senegal international Ballo-Toure in favour of USMNT full-back Dest.

This is because Dest impressed with his national team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, while Florenzi and Calabria provide versatility on either flank.

So far this season, Ballo-Toure participated in four Champions League games and three in Serie A, scoring a goal against Empoli.

Also excluded were Yacine Adli, Malick Thiaw, Aster Vranckx and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
