Milan are expected to have Simon Kjaer in defence, with Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao upfront in the Supercoppa Italiana, while Inter can at most get Romelu Lukaku on the bench.

The showdown is the traditional clash between the Serie A title holders and Coppa Italia winners, which this time also happens to be a Derby della Madonnina.

It will kick off in Riyadh on Wednesday at 19.00 GMT.

Stefano Pioli’s men trained today and Sandro Tonali returns after his suspension in the 2-2 Serie A draw with Lecce.

The big change should be Danish international Kjaer in place of Pierre Kalulu, who made some costly errors in that game, partnering Fikayo Tomori.

Brahim Diaz and Alexis Saelemaekers should join immovable Leao and Giroud in attack, while Ante Rebic and Divock Origi are at best fit for the bench.

Inter are also in training and once again today Lukaku only partially participated, while Marcelo Brozovic did not train and is not even expected to be in the squad.

Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez therefore seem to be the locked on picks upfront, with Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolò Barella in the midfield.

Probable line-ups

Milan (4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Giroud

Inter (3-5-2): Onana; Skriniar, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Dzeko, Lautaro Martinez
