Milan have been named by L’Equipe as one of the clubs interested in RB Leipzig hitman Christopher Nkunku, along with Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona.

The France international has been simply a sensation this season, scoring 34 goals in 49 competitive games for RB Leipzig, along with contributing 19 assists for his teammates.

He proved instrumental in eliminating Atalanta from the Europa League quarter-final too.

Nkunku was signed from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 for €13m and reports suggest his price-tag is now pushing €100m.

According to L’Equipe, Milan are among the contenders for the 24-year-old’s signature, along with Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona.

The Rossoneri usually shy away from big transfers, but talks for a takeover from either Investcorp or RedBird, as well as their Champions League qualification, are fuelling hopes they can make a splash on the market this summer with a statement signing.

Calciomercato.com also see Milan pursuing Nkunku as the player who could really take them to another level, especially for his tactical versatility that allows him to play as a trequartista, a False 9 or on the wing.

  1. I need to see him have another consistent season as a reliable goalscorer. This guy has operated in quite a few roles across the midfield and I’m just worried that he’s another Julio Baptista with an Indian summer season.

  2. Will need to see another season of him being prolific before I’m convinced that he indeed is a reliable goalscorer. He has operated across quite a few roles, and I’m getting a Julio Baptista vibe.

  3. As he should be. That is the most important position in Milan’s setup and where we lack the most, and Nkunku is the best up and coming player in that position. His numbers this season are ridiculous.

That being said, I don’t like Milan getting into crazy bidding wars for any player, and I don’t think Maldini will do anything like that either.

  4. Yeah we should know by now to not do this stuff. Piatek, Bacca, Luiz Adriano, Kalinic, Torres.. The list goes on and on.
Don’t need this kinda situation again. Although you never know what the change of league can do.
Sheva was #1 for a while in serie a, we all know what happened with the Chelsea move.

  5. @Rosari and DB, yep agreed. 100m way too much for the sample size. Also, he strikes me as a bit undersized for the role we ask our strikers to play. Also, the Bundesliga strikes me as a bit more open defensively. He may struggle in the relative confines of Serie A. Still a big fan of Scamacca regardless of whether we’re taken over or not.

  6. With you there Vero, Scamacca looks like he fits right in to the way of playing. He could hit the ground running easily since he’s already used to the league. First choice for me and won’t cost 100m!

  7. SCAMacca is not worth 45m. 25m max. MMM can do more outside of Italy. You think it’s a coincidence that the only 2 sustainable projects in Italy (Milan, Atalanta) avoid Serie A overinflated purchases???? Few are worth the price, Tonali being the exception.

  8. Nkunku is worth 100m, hahahaha. yeah I guess that’s like the Osimhen valuation. Part exchange for Castillejo who’s worth 60m right??? Joke article.
