He transformed their fortunes with nine wins, three draws and five defeats, including a run of seven consecutive home victories, for an impressive 10th-place Serie A finish.

Mihajlovic had been linked with jobs at Juventus and Roma, but was convinced to keep the Bologna project going by promises to reinforce the squad.

This is in fact his second spell on the Stadio Dall’Ara bench, as his very first solo management job was at Bologna from November 2008 to April 2009.
