Sinisa Mihajlovic reportedly called Bologna players from the hospital, where he has begun a new cancer treatment cycle.

Last week, the former defender announced that he’d return to the hospital to undergo a new round of treatment for leukaemia. Mihajlovic had undergone a bone marrow transplant following three rounds of chemotherapy in 2019 and made a full recovery.

Sportmediaset and Calciomercato.com claim the coach video called his players from his hospital room in Bologna’s Sant’Orsola Hospital, one of Italy’s leading centres for cancer treatment.

The whole team, staff members and club directors attended the call, where Mihajlovic explained in first person his current situation and the path for the future. The atmosphere was ‘serene and positive’ and Mihajlovic demanded a full commitment to his players despite his absence on the touchline.

The Rossoblu will visit Milan at the Stadio Meazza on Monday and Mihajlovic’s assistant Emilio De Leo will take charge of the team, as already happened three years ago.
