Roma centre-back Philippe Mexes claims he is in no hurry to sign a new deal with the club, even though his existing contract expires in the summer.

Last week Roma President Rosella Sensi told journalists that the club was hopeful of agreeing a renewal with the 28-year-old France international.

"My relationship with the Sensi family has always been based on transparency and mutual trust," Mexes explained.

"I have always claimed that there is no hurry with regard to the contract. My agent is occupying himself with it.

"I have always claimed that there is no hurry with regard to the contract. My agent is occupying himself with it.

"It's a while since he has heard from the club and I know that in the next few days they will meet in Rome.

"I am certain that there will be no problems. Any decision made about my future will be in total harmony with the club to which I owe a lot."
