Fiorentina director Sandro Mencucci is confident the current Serie A leaders “are not inferior” to any other side.
The Viola have been the surprise outfit of the season so far and sit two points clear at the top of the table, a position they hadn’t enjoyed since 1999.
“We can compete for the Champions League and I believe we are not inferior to the other teams in the race,” Mencucci told Radio Blu.

“There are many elements that make us think positively, but we also need to see what the other antagonists do going forward.
“For example, Juventus are far down the table at the moment but they will certainly rise up again. Then there are Roma and Inter, who invested heavily on the market, and Napoli are also doing well.”
Fiorentina go head-to-head with Napoli next Sunday, while Juventus visit Inter in the Derby d’Italia.
