Palermo’s new Swedish striker Agon Mehmeti discussed the comparisons with Milan hero Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“Ibra is certainly a great player and proves that every time with both the Swedish national team and Milan,” he told Reterete24.

“I am inspired by his style of play and we both played for Malmo. Of course, I don’t like to make comparisons because we have different characteristics, even if I try to imitate some of his qualities.

“I am a 360 degree striker, as I like to move all along the attacking line and have even played as a winger. My nickname is ‘super sub’ because of how many goals I score when coming off the bench, but I must admit it’s not a name I like very much. I always try to score in any way possible.

“Now I am focused only on Palermo and concentrating on this new adventure. I want to thank President Maurizio Zamparini, because coming to Italy is a dream come true. I will play 100 per cent to achieve every objective.”

It’s even rumoured that Mehmeti could be thrown in at the deep end for his debut at the weekend against Napoli.

“I have absolutely no fear at possibly facing Napoli. I can play in midfield or as a striker, so the Coach will decide. There’s a lot of competition for places in the Palermo attack, but that is positive for the team.”
