Udinese have told Fiorentina to abandon any hopes they had of signing Antonio Floro Flores during January.

The Neapolitan hitman is being paired with the Viola as the Tuscan club look for an Alberto Gilardino replacement following his switch to Genoa.

“Floro Flores is not moving away from Udine,” Udinese sporting director Fabrizio Larini told SportItalia. “He is a very important player for us and he will not be going to Fiorentina.

“I’ll say it again, Floro Flores is not on the transfer list. The club have decided to focus on him and we have total faith in his qualities.”

Floro Flores, 28, returned to the Stadio Friuli in the summer after a stunning six-month loan at Genoa where he scored 10 goals in 18 games.

However, so far this term, the former Italian Under-21 international has rippled the net just once in 10 Serie A ties.
