Sandro Mazzola says that Roberto Mancini’s task at Inter must be eased by work in the transfer market.

The Nerazzurri are working under the 49-year-old for a second time, following his arrival 10 days ago in place of Walter Mazzarri.

Despite an opening draw in the derby with Milan at the weekend and optimism surrounding his appointment, one club legend believes that Mancini alone cannot change the club’s fortunes.

“Mancini will have to work hard to return Inter to the top,” Mazzola has told Radio Rai.

Despite an opening draw in the derby with Milan at the weekend and optimism surrounding his appointment, one club legend believes that Mancini alone cannot change the club’s fortunes.

“Mancini will have to work hard to return Inter to the top,” Mazzola has told Radio Rai.

“But the players are not at the top level. Even the best Coach in the world cannot work wonders if the players are not at the right level.

“In midfield we are not strong, the club must think of the players to add to this squad that seems a little poor.

“Only the attack is of a high standard and they must start from that.

“It is necessary that the club returns to the market.”

Even if Mazzola values the attack, he had this to say about Mauro Icardi, who missed a golden chance in the first half of the Milan derby to score: “Yesterday he was not there in the head.”
