“These are three important points because we dropped them in other occasions where we deserved more,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“It wasn’t our best performance, and yet we made up the lost ground. I got very angry at half-time, as Genoa were stronger in the first half, but we did play better. Once we got in front, Salvatore Sirigu proved himself to be probably the best goalkeeper in Italy right now with another excellent save.”
While Mazzarri is hesitant to talk about targeting the Champions League places, he is sure of one thing.
“It seems obvious, looking at summer predictions and recent history, that Torino are the surprise outfit of this season. After many years, our club colours are up there fighting for an important target.
“Ask any Toro fan, and it’d be a dream to have 53 points with five rounds to go. Lazio are below us, a side who had a lot more going in their favour, while we’ve not been in this position for a very long time.
“I only ever joke about the Champions League with the President and the theme music. We’ve said that we will take it one game at a time, giving our all and seeing where we are at the end.”
