Jose Mauri is expected to make his first Serie A start for Milan, against Verona this afternoon.

The midfielder joined the Rossoneri in the summer of 2015 following Parma’s bankruptcy, but has been given only 34 minutes in the League so far.

Mauri came on for the last half hour of the draw with Carpi on Thursday night, and it appears he has done enough to convince Coach Cristian Brocchi that he deserves to start.

Tuttosport, MilanNews and Corriere dello Sport all report that the 19-year-old will be handed his first start, as Brocchi sticks with his midfield diamond.

With Mario Balotelli suspended, last season’s top-scorer Jeremy Menez is expected to start alongside Carlos Bacca, having missed most of this campaign with a back injury.

The Butei are all-but doomed to relegation, but will still be looking for a win on home turf, and former Milan striker Giampaolo Pazzini is expected to start.

Probable line-ups:

Verona: Gollini; Pisano, Moras, Bianchetti, Albertazzi; Wszolek, Marrone, Ionita, Emanuelson; Pazzini, Gomez

Milan: Donnarumma; Abate, Zapata, Romagnoli, De Sciglio; Kucka, Montolivo, Mauri; Honda; Bacca, Menez
