Lazio midfielder Stefano Mauri says overtaking Roma into second place would have the 'flavour of a Scudetto'.

The Biancocelesti are flying high, with only one point separating them from their second-placed rivals from the capital, and the 35-year-old believes that's as high up as their team should be looking.

Juventus right now are the stronger team, they've always had something more than everybody else,” he admitted. “So coming second would doubtlessly have the flavour of a Scudetto.”

“Juventus right now are the stronger team, they've always had something more than everybody else,” he admitted. “So coming second would doubtlessly have the flavour of a Scudetto.”

In spite of this ambition, Mauri still thinks they should take the League one game at a time.

“Between ourselves we always talk of looking at the team that's right ahead of us.

“From the beginning of the season and in the moments of difficulty, we never discussed a final objective, we only looked to the team ahead of us and tried to reach them.

“Having Roma in front of us certainly provides us with an extra incentive. This rivalry is very strongly felt in the city.

“You feel it in your daily life too, and the tifosi often encourage us to catch the Giallorossi. But we have to look at ourselves, that's the only way we can make progress.”
