On from debuting in the senior side during last season, the 18-year-old has started twice already this campaign under Roberto Donadoni, and netted his first goal in Week 5.

“It is a very beautiful moment, perhaps more so than I could have imagined, I cannot ask for more at 18,” the midfielder has told reporters this week.

“Coming up against big names? Technically players like Pjanic are very strong, but I see that there is not too much difference between the boy and the others. Then, at a technical level and in pace I can still improve.

“My role at Parma? Certainly in this new [attacking midfield] role I am running a lot, which I really like, and there is even less responsibility than those who play in [his original position of] midfield.

“Perhaps I am not yet ready to handle the pace of the team in that position. The Coach has left me with a bit more freedom, now I can look for space to receive the ball and to score goals.

“Any advice from Cassano? He told me to have personality, to look for the ball. I have tried so much because we are always close, and if you find the room with him, the ball will arrive.”

Juventus have been linked with Mauri of late, so he was asked what he would do if they were to call.

“I’d respond! Seriously, these are things that come out on the internet, no-one has ever called me.”
