Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi has pulled out of the France squad after suffering a rib injury against Milan.

Matuidi was subbed off 70 minutes into Juve’s 1-0 victory over Milan on Sunday, and coach Maurizio Sarri admitted the 32-year-old needed more tests for a potential fracture.

“Blaise was taken to J Medical for checks,” Sarri said after the game.

“He had to come off because of a blow to the ribs. It’s not even clear how he got injured.

“He’s having some tests, which are necessary because he might have a small fracture to the rib.”

With that in mind, he will not play for France this international break and his place has already been taken by Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi.

Adrien Rabiot, who replaced Matuidi against the Rossoneri, is unsurprisingly overlooked once more.

Les Bleus can book their place at Euro 2020 with wins against Moldova and Albania.
