Alessandro Matri has pledged to celebrate if he scores against his youth club Milan tomorrow and has “no regrets” about joining Juventus.

The former Cagliari striker grew up in the Rossoneri youth academy and had been ready to join them during the January transfer window. Instead, Milan opted for Antonio Cassano and he went to Turin.

“I have absolutely no regrets about joining Juventus rather than Milan,” insisted Matri ahead of Saturday night's showdown.

“I spent 12 years with the Rossoneri jersey and at first it did make me feel rather strange playing against them, but not any more. If I should score tomorrow, I would definitely celebrate.

“I know Massimiliano Allegri well from our time at Cagliari, but he never asked me to join him at Milan.

“At the moment I think the best strikers in the world are Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Samuel Eto'o, but my idol remains Marco Van Basten. As for the current squad, I really fear Kevin-Prince Boateng.”

The Bianconeri are in dire need of a boost after back-to-back defeats against Lecce and Bologna.

“I cannot explain what happened, as it was all going so well after the wins over Cagliari and Inter,” continued Matri.

“Now we have the opportunity to make up for that against Milan. Clearly we are under pressure, but I don't think we let the success of the Derby d'Italia victory go to our heads.”
