Adam Marusic is adapting well to Maurizio Sarri’s change of tactics at Lazio, is discussing a new contract and denies reports of anti-vaxxers among his teammates.

Much has changed this summer at the Stadio Olimpico, as Sarri arrived to replace Simone Inzaghi, which means a change from 3-5-2 to 4-3-3 tactics.

“Sarri has changed the way of playing, we now have four at the back and it’s going well so far,” Marusic told the media during their pre-season training camp.

“I have played as a wing-back and a centre-back, while I have played as a full-back at international level for six years. Sarri wants us to push forward, which is a good thing as far as I am concerned. It makes no difference to me if I play on the right or the left.”

The Montenegro international is only under contract with Lazio until the end of this season.

“I am happy here, I’m talking to the club and we’ll see what happens. Now I am just focusing on doing as well as possible and hope to avoid injuries the way I did last season. Our objective is to qualify for the Champions League.”

The Lazio squad received the first jab of their COVID-19 vaccine today, and Marusic refuted reports that there were four or five players who refused the injection.

“No, we all had the vaccine this morning. There are no anti-vaxxers here.”
