“Social media is an instrument we cannot control or stop, because they are part of the private sphere of players and their relatives,” said Marotta at an event discussing leadership skills in Milan.

“We cannot block the use of Instagram and Twitter. What we must do is make sure everyone understands these are wonderful instruments, but also dangerous ones.
“That is a reality we’ve all had to adapt to, because a few years ago it didn’t exist. In fact, when I started in this line of work, we didn’t even have mobile phones.”
