“There are regrets, of course, but now we must set the defeat aside and get a great result this evening,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia after the 2-1 defeat to Bologna.
“Squad rotation is natural considering the games are so close together, especially as with five substitutions, the coach has more options who can be decisive off the bench.”
Lautaro Martinez and Eriksen are benched today, but Marotta was asked if Inter expected more from the ex-Tottenham player?
“There were high expectations, but clearly coming from abroad, there can be difficulties adapting. Conte is doing everything possible to get him settled in, but we must have patience and not put too much responsibility on his shoulders.
“The team has played well, the change of system also caused a few hiccups, but there’s no responsibility on individuals here.”
Marotta was also asked about an audacious report that Juventus want to fire Fabio Paratici and recall their former director from Inter.
“That is absolutely fake news. I am tied to Inter and happy to work for this club. I am highly-motivated to achieve objectives for this club, which has great history. It takes patience and that is the hardest thing to find in football.
“I agree that one of the steps we need is to create a winning mentality, which you achieve with results. The principle objective to strengthen this squad is to bring in champions as well as talented youngsters. Champions are ready-made players for the present.”
