Inter director Beppe Marotta is convinced the Nerazzurri are ‘competitive’ but insists Simone Inzaghi still needs time.

Marotta spoke to Sky Sport Italia ahead of Inter’s Serie A clash against Sampdoria.

Serie A Live: Sampdoria vs. Inter

“Our beginning must be as it was since we must always get the best result,” Marotta said.

“We should not consider the gap with Juventus because of the moment, the most important thing is to assess the single performance in every game.”

Does he have a better relationship with Antonio Conte or Simone Inzaghi?

“Even in past years, there has never been a strong opposition,” Marotta said.

There is always respect for the club, which must support the work of the coach and that’s what we are doing.

“It should be remembered that Inzaghi is at his first experience at Inter and therefore, he must be given time. He is very prepared and very intelligent, he immediately understood the differences with Lazio“.

Inter saw Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi leave as the club needed to balance the books. However, Edin Dzeko, Joaquin Correa, Hakan Calhanoglu and Denzel Dumfries arrived to strengthen the team.

“I am responsible for transfers, but I must highlight the crucial help from [Piero] Ausilio and [Dario] Baccin,” the Inter director continued.

“We met the club’s requests and we wanted to be competitive, making the most of every opportunity.”
