“There are some very important games, not decisive ones, for the outcome of the season, but we have to look at what’s happening in our own house,” the director general told Mediaset Premium.

“We have this extremely important match in every aspect and are therefore concentrated only on that.

“It’s only normal to have injuries when you are fighting on three fronts, but we have built the squad to be able to handle that sort of eventuality.

“The team is both competitive and numerically adequate, so the XI that start will be suited to the task.”

Napoli have won 10 in a row and remain top of the Serie A table, but Juve have a game in hand, as their clash with Atalanta was snowed off.

“I think consistency of results will be the key to the Scudetto this season. We are somewhat accustomed to notching up results, taking on many different opponents, and consistency is important. If you drop points along the way, it becomes difficult to recover them,” continued Marotta.

“Today we need great motivation and concentration to overcome an extremely difficult obstacle. I’m sure Lazio’s Coppa Italia defeat on penalties will not affect their performance tonight.”

Today, Mario Balotelli declared he was ready for a return to Serie A and liked Juventus and Napoli.

“It’s good to see Balotelli play. He is an important player, a talent who can be of use to the Nazionale, but does not reflect the profile we are looking for and so our attention is not on him.”
