Claudio Marchisio calls Bayern Munich “one of the top three teams in the world” but Juventus “have grown a lot in Europe”.

The Bianconeri are facing the German champions in the Last 16 of the Champions League, with the first leg in Turin next week.

“Both teams have injuries, maybe them more than us,” Marchisio pointed out to Sky.

“But both teams have squads full of top players who can adapt to other roles. Whichever players are called up for the game will be well-prepared for the match.

“They have great technical and physical qualities, they’re always one of the top three teams in the world.

“So we’ll have to be careful, but on our part we know that we’ve grown a lot in Europe, we’re respected by all teams and we know we can give anyone a game, so that applies to Bayern Munich too.

“It will be a balanced tie, there will be two games and we have to make the most of the chances we get.”

It’s been noted that the only time the Old Lady have lost in the Champions League this season was when Marchisio was absent against Sevilla, does he feel like a talisman?

“Honestly I don’t care about that talk. I have to go onto the pitch and not think about that. But beyond that, the results are down to everyone.

“We know what we went through in the first few months, the difficulties experienced by old and new players. This growth has been slow, but it’s been steady and the wins speak to that.

“So the important thing is always the team.”
