Verona Coach Andrea Mandorlini called a Coppa Italia win over Perugia the ‘best medicine’ for his side after seven games without a victory.

The Butei defeated Perugia 1-0 at Bentegodi, with Javier Saviola’s penalty seeing Hellas safely through to face Juventus in January.

“Victory is always the best medicine, regardless of whether it’s the Coppa Italia,” Mandorlini told RAI Sport after the match.

“We face Juventus in the next round, and that’s always a glamour tie.

“We fielded a lot of players who haven’t played much, so there were many good things, and a maybe a few not-so-good.

“Verona have to do more, but we’ve had several players who haven’t managed to get a run of games.

“We’re continuing with our project, and it was important to go through.”
