Mandorlini, a former Beneamata player, has been touted as a possible caretaker, and the former Verona boss admits he’d jump at the chance.
“I thank those who have brought my name up, I’d like it and there’s always that small hope in my heart.
“For now De Boer has been called and he has to do well for the colours and everyone associated with Inter. I wish him the best.
“I thank all the Inter fans for the affection, and who knows if one day this dream will come true.”
De Boer’s side face Southampton tonight, having lost both of their opening Europa League fixtures.
“It’ll be an important match at a sensitive time. We’ll see. I hope Inter can get back to winning, because that’s the best cure.
“It’s difficult to analyse the situation from outside, because we only know what we see during the games, I think it’s simplistic to make judgements when you don’t have an in-depth knowledge of the team.
“We played a great game against Juventus, I thought it had all been sorted out from there but that wasn’t the case.
“I hope they can return to getting positive results which aren’t coming right now. Changes were made, and they happened suddenly in taking a new Coach and starting on a new path.
“In Italy people want everything at once, De Boer will have time to show his qualities. Right now the results are missing, but only the club will know if they made a hasty choice.
“The only possible medicine is winning.”
