Naturally, the Coach was asked about news UEFA imposed Financial Fair Play sanctions on the club, including a limited squad for European competition and a fine going from €6m to a potential €20m.

“I think UEFA understood that Inter are trying to do things the right way and that will take time, but this won’t change our objectives in the transfer market,” said Mancini in a Press conference.

“To balance the books we need a team that wins and qualifies for the Champions League. I feel UEFA appreciated our approach and the fine is a limited one.”

With that in mind, will the club continue its pursuit of high-earning Manchester City midfielder Yaya Touré?

“I haven’t spoken to him lately. Of course everyone wants to buy the best players, so there will be other clubs interested in him, but right now he is at City.

“Can our rapport make the difference when choosing? It could well count and if the conditions developed so we could sign him, it could well be an advantage. At the moment we aren’t at that stage yet, so we prefer to focus on the game against Lazio.”

The reporters in the room continued to press Mancio on transfer gossip, including Paulo Dybala of Palermo and PSG midfielder Thiago Motta.

“When you talk about Juventus, Inter and Milan, these are big clubs. I think it’s just a brief spell in which we are out of the Champions League.

“Much like Yaya, many clubs want Dybala and I don’t know where he will go. It depends on what is motivating his choice.

“As for Thiago, he’s a great player and already wrote history with Inter. Now he is at PSG.”
