Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was in the stands for Sampdoria-Roma and said he was “happy” for Mario Balotelli.

Mancio spent much of his playing career at Samp and was at Marassi for this afternoon’s 3-1 home win.

“I happened to be in the area and came to watch the game,” he told Stadio Sprint.

“Roma played a good first half, Sampdoria did better in the second. I didn’t expect the Blucerchiati to win this, but matches can change with a single incident.”

Mancini shrugged when asked what he thought about Zdenek Zeman’s dismissal at Roma, but praised Samp striker Mauro Icardi.

“He scored a good goal and moved well. I liked Icardi’s performance.”

Naturally, Mancini commented on former City hitman Balotelli’s great start to his Milan career, scoring three goals in two games.

“I am happy for him and I hope he continues to score. He is a good lad.”
