The Nerazzurri close their season tomorrow at 19:45 UK time against Sassuolo, and there are mixed feelings about their fifth place.

Mancini understands there is room for criticism, but he disagrees that the club's general transfer strategy is at fault.

“When Hernanes joined us instead of [Radja] Nainggolan, well, we signed an excellent player,” he told the Press. “He has quality and experience. When Inter signed him he was one of Italy's best, and Juventus picked him up too.

“Sometimes some sales are inevitable, like those of [Fredy] Guarin, [Mateo] Kovacic and [Xherdan] Shaqiri.

“I have no problems in my relationship with my current squad. I've never had so many good lads in my team."

Though the Nerazzurri will probably have to let some players go, they are determined to keep a strong core.

“I still haven't discussed with the president which of the players we are forbidden to sell, but it's not very difficult to figure that one out. For now all we can do is wait.

“For my own part, I'm happy where I am, though of course I'd be happier if I could win every year. That's not always possible, but it's still everyone's objective.

“As of now, we still haven't considered options to replace [Samir] Handanovic, if he leaves.”

Inter's fans have often been critical of the club's management, including Mancini's decisions with regards to his squad.

“I'm sorry about that. It's like people feel that we were always supposed to win the league. That said, it's only normal that a fan should get angry when Inter loses.

“You can't be happy about being defeated, but it's essential that our objectives are made clear. We determine our targets according to our resources.”

Mancini was also asked to provide the full formation for tomorrow's game against Sassuolo.

“I seriously intend to use these players: Carrizo; D'Ambrosio, Murillo, Juan Jesus, Nagatomo or Telles; Brozovic, Melo or Gnoukouri, Kondogbia; Jovetic, Eder, Palacio.

“There's nothing wrong with Milan supporting us tomorrow, we'd do the same if we needed this result for our standings.

“After the game I'll have a chat with the President. I have no problems at all.”
