The Bosnian has been in great goalscoring form in the Champions League with five goals in three games, but in Serie A he has found the back of the net only twice, prompting criticism from some sectors.
Mancio worked with the big striker at Manchester City, and leapt to the defence of his former player.
“He’s a great striker, one of the best in Europe,” Mancini told the Corriere dello Sport.

“The numbers are all on his side, he’s hit double figures everywhere he’s been.
“He has an eye for goal but he’s also good on the ball and can play for the team. Dzeko can’t be questioned, all strikers make mistakes. There is no such thing as a player who scores 10 chances out of 10.
“Edin will be one of the top-scorers in Serie A and the Champions League.”
