It’s claimed two pig heads were impaled on the gates of a hotel where Lazio fans are staying in Marseille.

There were clashes between the two sets of supporters last night, with two Italians and one Frenchman sustaining minor injuries.

According to local newspaper La Provence, the tensions have been exacerbated by political differences, as Lazio have a far-right fringe among their support and the Marseille ultras are known for their anti-fascist ideology.

Now the website cittaceleste.it is reporting intimidation of visiting supporters, with a picture of a pig’s head impaled on a railing, which is claimed to have been taken outside of a hotel being used by visiting fans.

The site claims supporters of the Aquile are being targeted by French fans, publishing testimony from a fan identified only as ‘Francesco’.

“We’re going back to Rome,” the supporter, whose name has been changed, tells the website.

“It’s too dangerous here. They’re hunting Laziale, yesterday they followed us to the bars and today they’re out looking for us again.

“You can’t leave the hotel because they’re waiting for you outside. It’s shameful, like what they left for us on the gates: two pig’s heads.”
