Manchester United are still attempting to bring Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat to Old Trafford this summer and are now pushing to bring the Morocco international in on loan according to reports from The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Wednesday afternoon’s report states that due to Manchester United’s financial fair play situation, a permanent deal for Amrabat this summer is increasingly unlikely.

Amrabat has been linked with a move away from Tuscany all summer and Manchester United have been in the mix for the duration of the transfer window, although a deal has not yet materialised.

Fiorentina’s reported asking price is €30m, but after spending heavily on Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana and Mason Mount this summer, United may not be able to fork out again this window.

Amrabat, 27, is under contract for another year in Florence, while Fiorentina have an option to extend that deal for a further season.

After impressing on the world stage with Morocco at the World Cup in Qatar last winter, Amrabat gained plenty of plaudits and with it substantial interest in the transfer market.

A move to Barcelona collapsed at the end of January, while Liverpool and Juventus have also been linked with him this summer.

Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday morning claimed that Napoli are the latest team to register an interest in Amrabat.

Amrabat has not yet been involved in any of Fiorentina’s competitive games in Serie A or in Europe so far this season and has been left out of Vincenzo Italiano’s squad for the play-off second leg against Rapid Vienna on Thursday night.
