Bologna have officially announced the signing of Alexis Saelemakeres on a season-long loan deal from Milan with an option to buy at a later date.

According to recent reports, it is believed that the Rossoblu have paid a fee of €500,000 to bring Saelemaekers on loan for the season and will have to fork out a further €10m to sign him on a permanent basis.

After a busy summer of arrivals at San Siro, the 24-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by Stefano Pioli and his team and was subsequently made available for transfer.

The Belgium international originally joined the Rossoneri on loan from Anderlecht in January 2020, before the deal was made permanent in June of that year for a reported sum of €3.5m on top of the €1m loan fee.

In October of 2021, Saelemaekers penned a new contract at San Siro, his current deal, which runs until the summer of 2026. Bologna will now be responsible for paying the entirety of his current salary.

During his three-and-a-half years with Milan, Saelemaekers racked up 140 appearances across all competitions, contributing with 10 goals along the way.
