The Premier League side has long been linked with 20-year-old Argentine forward Lamela, who scored 15 Serie A goals this season.

It had already been claimed Roma rejected a bid for the player, but La Gazzetta dello Sport now suggests emissaries from Manchester will be in the stands for tonight’s Milan-Roma clash.

They are laying the groundwork for a new proposal worth €30m, but again the Giallorossi are expected to turn it down in order to offer Lamela a new contract.

Roma paid around €17m when taking Lamela from River Plate in the summer of 2011.

Manchester City aren’t the only ones watching Lamela this evening, as Argentina manager Alejandro Sabella is also expected to be at San Siro.
