Paolo Maldini isn’t sure he’ll have a post-retirement career in football, as he could only ever work for Milan or Italy.

The former defender is seen as one of the greatest players of all time, playing over 1,000 games for the Rossoneri and the national team.

However, he rejected the chance to join the new board at San Siro and so far hasn’t been given a role in the Azzurri setup.

However, he rejected the chance to join the new board at San Siro and so far hasn’t been given a role in the Azzurri setup.

“It’s not certain it’ll be that way,” Maldini told Sky when asked if he’ll work in football in the future.

“I’ve had my journey in football, no-one can touch that and if I have the desire to do something else we’ll see, if not it will have been a wonderful story.

“It’s also true that my career may have been limited by my choices, i.e Milan and the national team.

“I could never see myself working for another team, above all at club level.”

Maldini is co-owner of Miami FC in the North American Soccer League, and last year played a professional tennis match at the Aspria Tennis Cup in Milan.

The Rossoneri legend and partner Stefano Landonio were beaten 6-1 6-1 in the first round by Tomasz Bednarek and David Pel.
