According to reports in Italy, Romelu Lukaku’s potential return to Inter would see Paulo Dybala join Roma, but the Nerazzurri must reach an agreement with Chelsea by the end of June.

Lukaku is unhappy at Stamford Bridge, where he has failed to justify his €113m price tag and, for this reason, he is pushing to return to Inter. However, with the Nerazzurri struggling financially, they can only afford the striker’s return on loan.

They could also benefit from the Growth Decree if Lukaku returns to the club by the end of June, so before the end of the financial year. Inter can’t afford Lukaku’s €14m-a-year salary and need him to take a 50% pay cut to earn €7m net; €10m gross, thanks to the Growth Decree.

According to Sportmediaset, Inter directors could meet the intermediary Sebastien Ledure tomorrow.

As of today, Inter can’t get both Lukaku and Paulo Dybala, so Il Corriere dello Sport reports the Argentinean could move to Roma if Lukaku joins Inter. However, if Lautaro Martinez leaves for a suitable offer, the Nerazzurri would get both Lukaku and La Joya.

7 thought on “Lukaku in a hurry to return to Inter and pushes Dybala to Roma?”
  1. Lorenzo, Inter would NOT benefit from the groth decree because Lukaku did not fulfill the requirement of working abroad for at least 2 years. That is why he has to half his salary

  2. Well…. if Dybala wants to win something he knows he will have much better chances at Inter with a much better team. Roma are not even in the CL. What’s stopping him going to Milan or outside of Italy. The advantage is if he goes to Inter there isn’t much pressure to perform and carry the team like he will have to do in other teams in Serie a.

  3. @juve in Serie b – I think the at least two years abroad is only for Italian citizens. If you’re foreign I think you can come any time. If I’m not mistaken it’s a growth decree to lure in foreign talent rather than Italian.

  4. I warn Inter right now. DO NOT choose between Dybala and Lukaku and Lautaro. Choose Dybala, Lukaku AND Lautaro!

Make it work. For what do Vidal, Sanchez, Dzeko, Kolarov, Caicedo, Vecino, need to earn salaries? We already lost Perisic, clearly that MUST free up significant funds.\

If a fair offer comes in for Correa, even he could be on the chopping block, but no discounts.

  5. At Chelsea Lukaku earns €14m-a-year net that is unsustainable for Inter.
Lukaku is willing to cut his salary up to 9m. The figure is not in line with the club’s policy: the top players Barella, Brozovic, Lautaro, has imposed a ceiling of 6m.
Lukaku still benefits from the tax breaks of the Growth Decree (but the contract must be signed by the end of June 2022). This means an expense for Inter of about 12 million gross for Lukaku, more or less the cost of the other top.
