Villarreal left-back Alberto Moreno sustained another knee injury, so is out of the Champions League clash with Juventus, while Luis Alberto dedicated a Lazio goal to his former Liverpool teammate.

The 29-year-old limped off during today’s 1-0 LaLiga defeat to Osasuna and initial reports suggest it could be a serious setback.

It would be the second serious knee injury for Moreno, who already tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in September 2020.

He was out of action for several months, making his comeback in March 2021, so a similar injury just a year later would be devastating.

Luis Alberto thought so too and told Sky Sport Italia at half-time during Lazio’s trip to Cagliari this evening that the goal was dedicated to his ex-Liverpool teammate.

“I dedicate this to Alberto Moreno, he is my former teammate and he’s had another bad knee injury today, so I wish him all the best.”

Juventus drew the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 with Villarreal, 1-1 in Spain, so Alberto Moreno is certainly out of the decider in Turin.
