Ciro Immobile converted a penalty against Cagliari and made history, as he equalled Silvio Piola’s club record as top all-time Lazio scorer in Serie A, achieving it on his 200th appearance.
The striker put the spot-kick past goalkeeper Alessio Cragno for his 143rd Serie A goal in the Lazio jersey.
This allowed him to become the joint all-time top scorer for this club in the top flight, matching the tally set by Piola.
Piola played for the Biancocelesti from 1934 to 1943 and amassed 143 Serie A goals in 156 games for the club.
Today’s trip to Cagliari was also Immobile’s 200th Serie A appearance in the Lazio jersey.
In the Serie A era of three points for a win, Immobile is by far the most prolific player in his first 200 games for a single club.
Immobile got 143 in his first 200 for Lazio, compared to Andriy Shevchenko’s 123 at Milan and David Trezeguet netting 119 at Juventus.
