Uruguayan international Diego Lugano will not be leaving Paris Saint-Germain for Roma this month.

The stopper has been paired with the capital club given their need for a new centre-back after losing the injured Nicolas Burdisso for the rest of the campaign.

The former Sao Paulo ace has been paired with the Giallorossi over the last few days, but a switch has been ruled out.

“There is no transfer negotiation going on for Lugano,” Alessandro Lucci, who assists the player’s agent in Italy, told Il Sussidiario.

“There has also never been any contact with Roma. I can confirm with total certainty that he will remain at Paris SG.”

The 31-year-old only moved to PSG in the summer after he left Turkish club Fenerbahce in a €3m deal.

Lugano was also heavily linked with Juventus before opting for a future in the French capital.
