Diego Lopez says he hopes to be back training with his teammates as soon as Monday, as he outlines Milan’s coming challenge with Verona.

The Spaniard has been out of action since picking up a hamstring injury in mid-September, but is seen as closer to returning to full fitness, even if the particular date is not yet set.

“I have a great desire to return to the field,” Lopez has now reflected to Milan Channel.

“It has not been easy to spend four games out on the sidelines, but I hope to return to being at the Coach’s disposal in the coming matches.

“I suffered a lot during these games I have been out. Even so I have tried to support my teammates from the outside. I believe that we are on the right track.”

The 32-year-old relived the moment he picked up his injury, which led to the concession of a fourth goal against Parma, from Mattia De Sciglio’s back-pass.

“I got injured before the arrival of the ball. When I was going to control it, the moment I put my foot down I felt an incredible pain.

“From there I lost sight of the ball, as if it was locked, and it went in[to the goal].”

Looking ahead, Lopez is aware of what is required for the Rossoneri and has shown respect for their Week 7 opponents.

“Verona will be a difficult game for us, my teammates have told me. I hope to return to the to the group during next week, perhaps as early as Monday, and to lend a hand to the team in an important game.

“We are doing well, we have to win this game, even though we know it will not be an easy game.

“In the last game we did better, we returned to winning.

“We are fine, we have great players and the Coach gives us great confidence, incredible hunger and the desire to win.”
