Torino have lost their last 6 games in all competitions, and Longo states that he has witnessed an improved spirit amongst his squad,

“There are improvements in terms of unity and team spirit. There is a need for cohesion and availability, there is an attitude that must become the foundation for everything,” said Moreno in his press conference.

“We cannot have anxiety on the pitch, we must play with conviction and courage without giving room for thoughts that might distract us from the game.”

Despite the recent downturn in performances, Longo expects a great turnout from the Torino fans at the Stadio Olimpico.

“It’s fundamental, I know how much their support can give us. And I know that a football player needs the support of the fans.

“Since I arrived they have been commendable. I want the fans to support us until the last minute. We will have to be good to deserve being applauded at the end of the game.”

Longo was then asked how does he plan to stop Parma’s Gervinho.

“He is better when he is allowed space in open areas, we will have to work well in transition and to close him down.

“Parma is no longer just a team restarting in Serie A, they are the most logical and functional team in the league, the merit must go to Daniele Faggiano and Roberto D’Aversa because they have built a side which offers really interesting situations.

“They know what they have to do.”

Torino have conceded goals in the latter stages of games this season, and Longo wants to eradicate that from his side.

“I said to myself that we have a physical deficiency, and the data certified this. We have conceded too many goals in the last minutes of games.

“Against Milan I saw positive glimmers because the team showed less of a drop-off in energy than in previous games.

“It would be presumptuous to say that I feel that this team is mine, let’s figure out if I can say it in a few weeks.”

Torino’s bad form has seen them plummet down the table, and are only five points away from safety.

“With five points you can’t joke. Last season Parma had more than five points clear of safety and in the end only secured it in the last week of the season.

Cagliari have problems, Roma have only won once in the last five games. In Serie A you must have the ability take nothing for granted.”
