The 22-year-old ended a disappointing loan spell at Verona last month to temporarily switch out to Rayo Vallecano.

For the Inter-owned forward, the return to Spain, where he spent last season on loan at Espanyol, is very welcome.

“When my agent suggested this solution I was immediately convinced,” Longo has explained this week at his official presentation.

“I did not play in Verona and it is obvious that for a young player to grow, the best way is to take to the field.

“I know Spanish football and La Liga because last season I was with Espanyol. I found things went very well here, even better than in Italy, and I am happy to be back.

“Here [in Spain] you look for the beautiful game, Serie A is mostly about the result, even when playing badly.

“Here, everyone wants to play good football, and I find the environment more peaceful and carefree.”
