Roberto Soriano believes that Sinisa Mihajlovic’s work with Sampdoria has been focused on removing the fear factor from the players.

Samp have moved up the table during their early work under the Serbian tactician, with Soriano one to notably feature in his tactics.

For the 22-year-old, the reason behind the Blucerchiati’s improved form is very much the mindset imprinted by Miha.

“You can see, the Coach has imprinted into the squad’s mind the mentality of a winning team,” Soriano has enthused to Il Seccolo XIX today.

“He has prompted us to go out on to the field without fear, without worry of making a mistake. To play well it is important to feel supported, knowing that you can possibly go wrong.

“Before, when I walked out on to the pitch, when I did, it was for the final few minutes and with the expectations of having to maybe change the game.

“This is not easy, you get anxious and you put a couple of passes wrong and find yourself out again.

“Mihajlovic has removed this fear, he tells us to play and to not fear anyone. Then, we may lose or win, but without that same fear.

“The derby win? It is one of those games that lasts more than 90 minutes, people do not talk about anything else, now we are stopped in the street and people compliment us. It’s great.”

German-born Soriano, who was capped at four age levels for Italy, was then asked of his chances of perhaps making the World Cup this summer.

“Are you kidding? To tell the truth, I have never thought about it even for a second. I am no longer of an age for the Under-21s and I exclude being able to play for the Azzurri.

“I am someone who is down to earth, for now I want to continue my growth at Sampdoria. Then, if a miracle happens, what to say!”
