The Serbian joined the Nerazzurri on loan from the capital club this summer, having finished second for two seasons in a row with the Lupi.

Last season, Giallorossi Coach Rudi Garcia declared that his team would win the Scudetto, before finishing 17 points behind Juvetus, and Ljajic is keen not to repeat that mistake.

“By nature I don’t look that far ahead,” Ljajic told Tuttosport when asked about winning Serie A.

“Also because I’ve been burned by the last two years at Roma: we always thought it was the right time, but we were never able to win because we found a much stronger Juventus.

“When I arrived, I never thought of being top of the table after 13 games. I thought we’d be there fighting for the top three places, and we’d have problems with a newly-assembled team.

“Instead we’re higher than everyone.”

The Beneamata have been criticised for their style of play, notably by Arrigo Sacchi, but Ljajic would be happy to continue this form until the end of the season.

“A lot of people talk, but we’re first, we’ve won a lot of matches and I’d sign up now to win 1-0 until the end of the season, creating even just one scoring opportunity.

“They say we’re bad and we’re first in the table, imagine what could happen when we start to play better?

“We have to continue this work because, quite simply, it has produced results. As long as it all goes well we won’t have to change anything, but we have to try and play more with the ball and create more chances.”

Finally, the playmaker praised Coach Roberto Mancini, and admits he wants to stay at Inter beyond this season.

“Mancini? He’s giving more to the team,” Ljajic revealed.

“He’s also improved our attitude on the pitch. He talks to everyone, he infuses positivity in the players and knows how to motivate a few others.

“He’s demonstrated that he’ll give everyone their proper chance. You never know what he’ll decided, people have played who didn’t expect to.

“He was a great striker? He understands our needs, but the problem is that if we don’t do things right, it doesn’t take him long to notice!

“Will I stay at Inter? When the season ends, we’ll take a decision together. At the moment my only concern is playing well and giving everything for this shirt. Then we’ll see what happens.

“It’s clear that I’d like Inter to redeem me, but truthfully I don’t see it as a problem or a concern: I just want to play.

“At the end of the season we’ll talk about everything.”
