“We were missing many players today, but it was clear we have a strong squad that can win every game. We played well tonight and the victory arrived too,” Ljajic told Sky Sport Italia.
The goal came after he had played just 25 minutes in the last six matches, but he was picked tonight because Mattia Destro, Alessandro Florenzi and Adem Ljajic were suspended.
“I hadn’t been playing much recently, but football is like that, the Coach decides who plays. I gave my all and I think it went well.
“I came here to play, there are five games left, then when the moment arrives to talk we will sit around a table and see what the best course of action is.”
Roma notched up a seventh consecutive Serie A victory and closed the gap on Juventus to five points, though the Bianconeri play Udinese on Monday evening.
“We gave an important signal tonight, playing well and winning. I think there is a little pressure on Juve and we’ll be watching on Monday.
“Unfortunately it doesn’t depend on us, so we can only do our best and see what happens.”
