According to reports, Liverpool have made an approach for Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae and the South Korea international would be open to the move.

The Reds were beaten 4-1 by Manchester City in the Premier League today and run the genuine risk of missing out on Champions League qualification for next season.

They have really struggled with their defence this term and manager Jurgen Klopp believes Kim Min-jae is the man to revitalise their back line.

Footmercato in France claim that Liverpool have already approached Napoli to declare their interest in the former Fenerbahce star.

It is also suggested that Kim Min-jae’s entourage would welcome a transfer to Anfield, although it remains to be seen if their Champions League participation will be an issue.

Napoli paid €18.05m to sign him from Fenerbahce in July 2022 and there is reported to be a release clause worth €45m that is valid only for foreign clubs from the summer of 2024.

At the same time, the Partenopei are not eager to lose the defender and are trying to negotiate an improved deal that either removes or increases the release clause.
