Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is thought to be unhappy with current Reds number 1 Simon Mignolet, and is looking for an experienced pair of hands, with Lopez a target according to Calciomercato.

The former Real Madrid goalkeeper fits the bill, and it’s thought he’d be happy to leave San Siro in order to get first-team football.

Lopez has a contract until 2018, worth €2.5m per season, but Milan and Liverpool could strike a deal involving Mario Balotelli.

The striker returned to the Diavolo on loan this summer, but without a right of redemption so that both clubs can evaluate the situation next summer.

Calciomercato believes that if Milan are happy with Balotelli when he returns from a hernia, they could use Diego Lopez as a bargaining chip to lower the price for the Italian international.
