Fabio Liverani maintains Parma felt the fatigue and frustration in a 4-0 defeat to Juventus. ‘You need to covert 100 per cent of your opportunities and we didn’t do that.’

The Ducali had held Inter and Milan to 2-2 draws in recent weeks, moments away from victory, but it was never in doubt this evening against Juve.

Dejan Kulusevski and a Cristiano Ronaldo brace had it at 3-0 by the start of the second half, then Alvaro Morata added a late fourth.

“I don’t think we were timid, as we had the first big chance and were denied by a Gigi Buffon miracle,” the coach told DAZN.

“The problem against the big teams is that you need to convert 100 per cent of your opportunities and try to limit their chances. We didn’t do either of those.

“Our marking wasn’t right in some cases and sides like Juventus don’t let you get away with those errors. There was also a sense of fatigue, so perhaps facing Juve as our third game in a week wasn’t the best luck.”

The Juventus players were also allowed to finish under relatively little pressure.

“When you are man-marking, you need to be more ferocious. It’s about determination and concentration. It’s clear that if I lose my man because I am always looking at the ball, then I’m going to struggle. You have to avoid the man getting the ball. If I don’t get it and he doesn’t get it, the ball will pass by.

“We were I think a little low on fuel today, physically and psychologically, and conceding two goals in quick succession knocked the remaining energy out of us. If we’d been able to score that Juraj Kucka chance, it might’ve boosted the confidence again.

“We’ve struggled to convert our chances lately and that is something we need to work on. Now on Tuesday we have a fundamental match against Crotone and we want to get back on track with our performance and results.”
